Neals Yard – Treat your hair

Neals Yard - Hair treatmentsDo we rely too much on chemical formulas? We are all guilty of being persuaded by the media that anything new will do wonders for our hair. We buy it, run home, plop it on our heads and put our trust in the fact that a new product will magically transform our dull and lifeless hair. But are we just getting lazy and not getting to the root of our hair problems?

Neals Yard has been producing organic hair treatments for years and the ingredients used are not unfamiliar to us or indeed our ancestors. We know they are packed with everything good. However, it’s not just what’s in the bottle but how it is applied. Neals Yard recommends a certain way of applying their products so washing your hair becomes more like a treatment than just a miracle wash.

1. Warm water will open the cuticle of the hair shaft to help the cleansing of any old oils or substances that may be trapped in and around the hair. However, do not use overly hot water as this may dry the scalp and hair too much. An ideal temperature would feel warm and comfortable on the skin.

2. After applying the shampoo, start to massage the scalp with the pads of your fingers in a circular motion. Massaging the scalp has been proved to stimulate the revitalizing blood flow under the skin allowing your hair to get better nourishment as it grows. Massaging will also remove any dead skin cells that build up.

3. When it is time to rinse your hair, use cold water. Cold water will close the hair shaft leaving your hair cleaner and with more shine. Cold water will also constrict the sebaceous glands which will moderate sebum production on the scalp.

If you are looking for a good hair treatment, get a bottle of Neals Yard hair shampoo and treat your hair properly. Putting the time in will get you results.
