OojufinkMens Hairdresser, CardiganWe offer our clients a wide range of barbering services from simple and slick to complex and outrageous. From oldskool barbering to clipper cut art. From the natural to the chemical, you decide!
Who is Oojufink? The name Oojufink was created by Jay Bura at the turn of the millenium and was used as his DJ name while he worked and studied his barbering techniques. His first business venture was set up in 2005. He decided to lend his name (Oojufink) to this business venture and the first Oojufink barbering salon was born. Although the business became a success, egos and personal problems between staff became intolerable to cope with and in the end Jay decided enough was enough and moved back to his roots to concentrate on the bigger picture. With positive backing and investment and with the help of his partner Esther, Jay has created a truly exceptional salon experience. Oojufink now opens it's doors in Cardigan, Wales and has truly put the world of barbering back on the map. The work ethics of Oojufink speak for themselves. The Hand Book Oojufink Work Ethics for all staff The most important thing to remember when working with us is the work ethic. This is to achieve and promote a professional working attitude, an eye for detail, and above all have FUN. appearance and conduct Wear anything you like, and as Henry ford said any colour as long as it's BLACK. Please try to be neat, and let your character show in what you wear. But still just BLACK. You are now a representative of Oojufink barber. Everything you do, in or out of work, will have a bearing on how the cardigan company looks to the public. Remember this. Even if your worst enemy steps through the door, you must be polite. Never be abusive, and never talk badly of clients to clients. They will wonder what you are saying about them. Your attitude to work shows. We want you to enjoy your work, so that the clients enjoy coming back. If for any reason you are feeling despondent or bored of work, please let us know immediately, so that we can do something about it and help to make you happy again. You are important to us. tidiness You will be given a set station to work at, and it is your responsibility to keep it clean, however if you see an untidy station that is not yours please clean it, if you have time. The barber shop does get busy and it can be hard to keep on top of the tidying. Any spare moment should be used to sweep up (not just the hair around you, but all the hair) and tidy the salon. At the end of the day the salon should be left impeccably clean and tidy. Your station wiped down, mirror and basin cleaned by you. No one leaves until this is done. introduction When any one enters the salon they must be acknowledged verbally by someone, do not think that is up to someone else to do this. Drop what you are doing and see what they need. You will be shown how to use the booking and till system in the practical. When asking a client to take a seat, offer a drink, take their coat, and see if they need any help with the play area (Xbox, games etc.). When new clients enter a barber salon for the first time it can be a scary experience, and you must help them through this by smiling, being friendly and asking them questions, all the while showing your confidence (they can smell fear). Even if they are regulars and seem to treat the place as their own. You must not neglect them, but treat them as you would new clients. interaction When you are ready for your client it is policy that you should ask for them by name, shake their hand, and introduce yourself. This is flexible and should be done in a way that is natural to you. When they are seated and ready you must always ask them what they want. Never offer "the usual". The music will be loud. This is to help create an isolation bubble around you and your client. The music will make it seem that what they say will not be herd by anyone else and give the client a sense of security. Some clients may ask for the music to be turned down, you must politely decline. Because of the loud music it is essential that you try to engage you client in conversation, or they will feel even more isolated. Ask open questions (questions you cannot answer with a yes or no). cutting and servicing There will be a practical to accompany this subject. There is no hierarchy in Oojufink, all the prices are the same, no matter who the barber is. This means that everyone must have the same ability. Clients will expect the best from Oojufink and that is exactly what they should get. It is a requirement that all barbers must be confident and able to use a cutthrought razor. All barbers must be able to offer a shave. All barber haircuts must be finished off with the cutthrought. You are given half an hour for a haircut. This is more than enough time to be a perfectionist, and give the client the best haircut he can have. However if you find that you are running behind don't panic or rush, it's not a problem. Your ethic of cutting should be how I can find ways to improve my ability, and what I can offer. NOT how can I do this faster. Rushing your work to the detriment of your client will not be tolerated. All barbers must be proficient in colouring. All barbers and beauticians must have an understanding of what is involved in each aspect of the services offered by Oojufink. So that when asked they can give a good explanation of that service. playing You must play on the Xbox's. So you can offer advice to your clients when they are playing. Once a week we will have a tournament after hours with drinks. Once a month we will do something mad with Oojufink. We will do photo shoots whenever possible. So if there is anything you want to photograph professionally, or you have any ideas, let us know. We are always on the lookout for courses, and new ways to improve ourselves, so you will be asked if you would like to go on these. Again, let us know if there is something you wish to learn, or any courses you wish to go on. We will do shows and events, either spectating or participating. We want you to have fun at work.
